We start your 1-year warranty on the day your old computer is received.            Dodge Durango History You May Have Missed            The Dodge Durango made its sport utility vehicle debut in 1998. The Durango was Dodge’s answer to Ford’s Explorer and Toyota’s Ford Runner. Durango’s 5.2 liter Magnum V-8 engine came standard with the option of a 5.9 liter. Seven passengers could be accommodated with the optional forward-facing third row seat.            The first year Durango’s came with four-wheel drive; an option was offered for a full-time or part-time transfer case. In 1999 Dodge began offering a less expensive two-wheel drive Durango that came standard with a 3.9 liter Magnum V-6.            Dodge Durango’s first major renovation took place in 2004 and saw the Durango’s overall size increased. The wheelbase was extended by 3 inches and the height was increased by 4.3 inches. The size increase resulted in more passenger and cargo room. The updated Durango was given a 210 horsepower; 3.7 liter PowerTech V-6 engine. The V-8 version was developed around a 5.7 liter HEMI that produced 335 horsepower. This 2004 update also added luxury items such as automatic temperature control, Bluetooth, and satellite radio.            In 2006 Dodge decided to upgrade the HEMI V-8 by improving the gas mileage with a Multi-Displacement System. For a brief time in 2009 Dodge offered a hybrid version of the Durango which used a two-mode transmission. The Durango received another major update in 2011 and began sharing Jeep Grand Cherokee’s chassis. This most recent update came standard with a 290 horsepower V-6, and an R\/T version with 360 horsepower in the 5.7 liter HEMI V-8.
