First-generation Dodge Ram pickups were known as the 150, the 250 and the 350. In 1994, Dodge renamed the three vehicles the 1500, 2500 and 3500, respectively. In that same model year, Dodge introduced its powerful 8.0L, 10-cylinder engine that enthusiasts widely embraced.            The third-generation Ram arrived in 2002 with a bigger grille, all-new frame and upgraded suspension. A new 5.7L Hemi engine offered 100 more horsepower than its 5.9L predecessor. In 2003, Dodge added the high-performance SRT-10 to its Ram lineup.            In 2007, a new Cummins turbo-diesel became an option in the heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. It was mated to an all-new six-speed transmission. In 2009, Dodge brought its fourth-generation Ram to the truck market. It featured the Rambox, a storage option located inside the walls of the truck bed. The all-new Ram Division was created within the Dodge company in 2010. The smaller Dakota pickup was moved over to this new division.            In 2013, a new optional eight-speed transmission was mated to the V-6 Pentastar engine to maximize fuel efficiency and performance. The new power-train achieved best-in-class fuel economy. For the 2014 model year, Ram sold a half-ton pickup with a diesel engine for the first time in two decades.
